Michael Moore: Quote for June 30, 2008

I think one of the greatest untold stories of the 20th century is the collusion between corporations, especially in America, and Nazi Germany. First, in terms of how the corporations from America helped to essentially rebuild Germany and support the early Nazi regime. And then, when the war broke out, figured out a way to keep everything going. So General Motors was able to keep Opal going, Ford was able to keep their thing going, and companies like Coca-Cola, they couldn't keep the Coca-Cola going, so what they did was they invented Fanta Orange for the Germans. And that's how Coke was able to keep their profits coming in to Coca-Cola. So when you drink Fanta Orange, that's the Nazi drink that was created so that Coke could continue making money while millions of people died.

Jerry Brown: Quote for June 29, 2008

Multinational corporations do control. They control the politicians. They control the media. They control the pattern of consumption, entertainment, thinking. They're destroying the planet and laying the foundation for violent outbursts and racial division.

Oh trust me doc, bringing psychiatric drugs and teenagers together is like opening a lemonade stand in the desert.

Frederick F. Reichheld: Quote for June 27, 2008

Loyalty is dead, the experts proclaim, and the statistics seem to bear them out. On average, U.S. corporations now lose half their customers in five years, half their employees in four, and half their investors in less than one. We seem to face a future in which the only business relationships will be opportunistic transactions between virtual strangers.

George Carlin: Quote for June 26, 2008

Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things He does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, He has a special place full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and anguish where He'll send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever till the end of time. But He loves you! He loves you. He loves you, and He needs Money!

Randle Patrick McMurphy: Quote for June 25, 2008

They was giving me ten thousand watts a day, you know, and I'm hot to trot! The next woman takes me on is gonna light up like a pinball machine and pay off in silver dollars! (After receiving shock treatments.)

Victor Hugo: Quote for June 24, 2008

Have courage for the great sorrows of life and patience for the small ones; and when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace. God is awake.

Davy Crockett: Quote for June 23, 2008

Now I may sound like a Bible beater yelling up a revival in a river crossing camp meeting, but that don't change the truth none. There's right and there's wrong. You got to do one or the other. You do the one and you're living. You do the other and you may be walking around, but you're dead as a beaver hat.

Charles Bradlaugh: Quote for June 22, 2008

Without free speech no search for truth is possible... no discovery of truth is useful. Better a thousand fold abuse of free speech than denial of free speech. The abuse dies in a day, but the denial slays the life of the people.

Willie Stark: Quote for June 21, 2008

If you don't vote, you don't matter! You don't matter! You don't matter! And then you're just as ignorant as them in the city say you are, while they're stealing the food off your table, every last nickel out of your pocket, saying thank you, please.

Mark Twain: Quote for June 20, 2008

In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.

Scarlett O'Hara: Quote for June 19, 2008

As God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill, as God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again.

Mikhail Gorbachev: Quote for June 18, 2008

Now that we are rid of this syndrome of imposing the communist model on people, now that we've given them the chance to get rid of this dogma, I have to tell you Americans that you've been pushing your American way of life for decades. You thought it was perfection itself, the ultimate achievement of human thought... There has to be a different approach... Americans have to be more modest in their desires. We have to stimulate human qualities in people rather than greed.

Timothy Treadwell: Quote for June 17, 2008

People who camp in grizzly country should camp out in the open to let the bears know where the tent is. My camp is unseen. It is the most dangerous camping, the most dangerous living in the history of the world by any human being. I have lived longer with wild brown grizzly bears without weapons, that's the key without weapons, in modern history than any human on earth, any human, and I've remained safe. But every second of every day that I move through this jungle or even at the tent, I am right at the precipice of great bodily harm or even death.
from: Grizzly Man (documentary 2005)
The above video was made only a few days before Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard were killed by bears in 2003.

Dan Barker: Quote for June 16, 2008

Love is not self denial. Love is not blood and suffering. Love is not murdering your son to appease your own vanity. Love is not hatred or wrath, consigning billions of people to eternal torture because they have offended your ego or disobeyed your rules. Love is not obedience, conformity, or submission. It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being.

Dr. Joseph Bell: Quote for June 15, 2008

From the astrologer came the astronomer, from the alchemist came the chemist, from the mesmerist came the mental specialist. The charlatan is always the pioneer. The quack of yesterday is the professor of tomorrow.
Ian Richardson acted as Dr. Joseph Bell
